Royksopp Melody Am Rar

Royksopp: Melody AM. Norwegian duo whose warm and fuzzy ambient dance album even features the Kings' Erlend Oye singing on two tracks. 12th September 2005. Royksopp - Melody A.M. Royksopp are a duo from Norway. They rely on beautiful soundscapes, and a couple appearances by Erlend Oye of Kings of Convenience fame on Melody A.M., to create an interesting and relaxing album that is a joy to listen to from beginning to end.In my opinion this is the type of downbeat album that rivals Boards of Canada's Music Has the Right To Children in terms of.

Chilled-out or downbeat acts swept through the electronic scene during 2001 and 2002, prompting dozens of identikit compilations, all conjuring up images of exhausted clubbers returning home early in the morning and enjoying a cup of tea or a smoke after a hectic night out. And although downtempo electronica had always been largely album-based, most of these trackmasters didn't do much on the full-length front. The Norwegian duo Röyksopp, however, displayed a careful hand with the boards on their 2001 debut Melody A.M. Röyksopp balances the haunted atmospheres of Boards of Canada with the more traditional 'songwriting' sensibility of downbeat specialists like Groove Armada or Koop. The opener is proof enough, with a chunky bassline undergirding the spooky, ethereal refrain from Bobby Vinton's 'Blue on Blue' recorded by some long-forgotten vocal chorus. There's much of beauty on Melody A.M., very textured and imaginatively produced to sound like few of their contemporaries; it's saying much to even admit that Röyksopp is occasionally the equal of such otherworldly acts as Boards of Canada or Goldfrapp. They seem a bit too indebted to the gauzy synths of '70s soundtracks, but there are a few good exceptions, like the distinctly '80s sense of artificial ethereality to the closer, '40 Years Back/Come.' Picking up the ball right about where Air dropped it after Moon Safari, Röyksopp produced one of the most intriguing downbeat albums of the year.

Re-Up this Album
Royksopp Melody Am Rar

Earlier in the year The Avalanches forced us all to sit up straight and pay attention with their stunning debut album, Since I Left You. In one fell swoop it planted the flag of Australian electronica firmly in the dance music map. Six months down the line it is the turn of the Norwegians.

Royksopp Melody Am Rarely

With the release of Melody AM, Royksopp cause us to draw sweet breath and marvel as our stereo is seduced by ablend of porno sax kitsch (check out 'She's So' for that hypnotic red light moment), dance floor stomp and studio wizardry. Seasonal Affective Disorder seems to have missed this dynamic duo as these guys have created one of the years' most beautiful surprises, kind oflike a ..er..'a nice cup of tea' first thing in the morning on your birthday.

Royksopp Melody Am Remind Me

Influenced by the likes of classical composers such as Eric Satie as well as porn flick maker Francis Lai, Melody AM combines funk with electronic soul, and sweeping film scores with dance floor tactics. Don't be surprised if the guitar, piano andtimbales of 'Poor Leno' induces a state of hip wiggling wonderment.

A search for music feature for SoundCloud & YouTube & Mixcloud in Winamp would be also very good.Same here. It'd be really nice if there's a plugin for winamp to integrate various music platforms.I also have a lot of music(favourites and uploads) stacked in Soundcloud and I often wish theres a way I can access those music directly through Winamp. Oh yes, with SoundCloud & YouTube, and also with some other music-video-platforms, for example Mixcloud, if it has been planned, too.I have my uploads in SoundCloud & YouTube & Mixcloud (and in all the other well-known artist-platforms), but also my favourites & playlists, and that's many music. Spotiamp spotify with winamp skin and plugins for mac.

The more down tempo 'Eple' is propelled by a rolling, lazy break beatthat shimmers and shines with more class than a room full of rowdy children facing a blackboard. But, be warned this is an album that will worm its way in to your affections. Weighing in at less than 45 minutes (like Basement Jaxx's Rooty) this is a record full of great ideas, none of which are laboured and some of which are over before you've had the chance to fully appreciate them first time round.

It is for precisely this reason that Melody AM can be played over and over - most likely, you won't take the CD out of the stereo for weeks. Houston this is control, the Norwegians have landed.
